The zulu2 is probably best in the way you can move both together. The bose has a much more tactile wheel type adjustment for volume. The only quibble with the PFX is that the volume slides aren't as easy to move either independently or concurrently. Both are awkward to put somewhere and once you've set a volume you leave it well alone. The control unit is small on the bose v the PFX. The microphone quality on the bose however borders between crisp and tinny - the PFX seems to have a better quality mic - or ironically it may not be as sensitive at picking up high frequency so has a warmer tone. I get the feeling that the audio fidelity of the speakers on the bose shows their heritage in what they do best. The ear cup speaker audio quality (receiving/hearing transmissions) I found crisper than the PFX (note I didn't get a chance to play with the app which allows you to control the treble/bass on the PFX). I thought this would be weird but it was ok once I got used to it. The unit, unlike all the others, hinges at the top of the head piece. This could just be that we are all used to headsets which are cast iron head clamping devices which can double as tie downs! The ear cups I found a little small compared to the PFX but then i don't have big ears. The trade off with lightness is that the non-ANR capability is pants and the unit "seems" cheap when you handle it. Whilst you know it's a quality piece of kit, one of the reasons it's light is that where possible they've used as much plastic as possible. There's not a hell of a lot between the a20 and PFX. I haven't had a chance to test out the extra features such as Bluetooth or apps, and haven't worn any for more than 1.5hrs at once.ġ) If you're on a budget, have a DC and are happy with the weight of it, get the ANR conversion.Ģ) If you have no headset and are on a "budget", get the Zulu2ģ) Otherwise, I'd personally go for the PFX. I've flown using DC13.4 with ANR conversion, Zulu2, PFX, A20 all in a pa32. Or base a decision off this and their other half isn't happy. I apologise for anyone if they base a decision off this and aren't happy. (My wife likes the lightweight in-ear style over headsets so we ordered a Clarity Aloft Classic for her.Ok so here goes. I don’t know how they will compare to my Bose but I’m happy to give them a try, maybe I’ll give the old Bose to my daughter and keep the new Zulu’s for me! Unreal customer service from Lightspeed Aviation! So I call Lightspeed today to tell them my woes and they really stepped up! We should have the new headset possibly tomorrow or Monday at no extra costs. I offered to pay extra for shipping and she refused saying they wanted to make sure that I had them in time. When I received the confirmation email it said to allow 2 days for order processing.uh oh, we really wanted them for a trip next week. Out to the plane I go and sure enough they are, and Lightspeed offers $100 for it as a trade-in, so I ordered a Zulu 3 last night. I saw a trade in promotion for Lightspeed and thought, hmm, I think the headset my wife has been using is an ancient Lightspeed Mach 1 that I used when flying gliders, got to be 15 years old or so. No complaints except the $1100 purchase price (which isn’t really bad over a 10+ year period when you think about it). I’ve been a Bose A20 user since they were launched, I still use that headset and love it. So my wife and daughter have been flying with me more often this year so we’ve been on the hunt for the right headsets to upgrade for them. I try really really hard not to talk bad about people that have done me wrong, but when someone goes above and beyond to do something right I have to share.
